About Chuck Anderson
As a Jazz guitarist, Chuck broke into the Philly Jazz Scene with the Chuck Anderson Trio in 1973. The group featured Al Stauffer on bass and rotated Jim Paxon, Ray Deely and Darryl Brown on drums. The trio played concerts throughout the east coast and recorded its first album in 1975. the album, originally titled Mirror Within a Mirror is included in a compilation CD titled The Vintage Tracks. This CD, released in 2005, contains all of the trio recordings from the 70's. In 2006 teh CD Angle Blue : A Tour of Jazz was release with critial acclaim.
Chuck composes the majority of his jazz repertoire for concerts and recording. His composition work is a major factor in differentiating Chuck's style from other concert jazz guitarists.
As an educator, Chuck Anderson directed the Medley Music School for 8 years. He founded and operated his own private music school for another 8 years. The school employed 12 teachers and had over 400 students. He was elected Artist in Education for the state of Delaware. Chuck was a consultant in the development of the guitar curriculum for Aula de Musica, a private music conservatory in Barcelona, Spain. He was also elected as the only American member of the International Advisory Board for LIPA, The Liverpool Institute for the Performing Arts. Chuck has lectured at colleges in the United States and in Europe. In addition, he has privately trained professional musicians, composers and music educators for the last 38 years.
Noted as a composer as well as a concert guitarist, Chuck has recorded 7 CDs: Passages from the End of Autumn, Kaleidophon, The Art of the Neo-Classical Guitar, Christmas Wishes, The International Collection, Angel Blue, Music from the Light, and The Vintage Tracks.
As a professional guitarist, Chuck was staff guitarist for the Latin Casino at the age of 21. He was featured with many legendary performers such as Peggy Lee, Bobby Darin, Michel LeGrand, Marvin Hamlisch, Anthony Newley, Nancy Wilson, Bob Hope, Johnny Carson, Trini Lopez, Billy Eckstein, Paul Williams, Ben E. King, The Letterman, Jerry Butler and Jack Jones to name a few. Active as a session player in New York and Philadelphia, his work took him from albums to Broadway to jingles and involved him in every style of music. Chuck was also staff guitarist for Valley Forge Music Fair, The Schubert Theater and The Forrest Theater, among others. He is a seasoned performer on radio, television and in concert. His guitar work has been endorsed by both the Martin Guitar Company and the Gibson Guitar Company.
As an author, Chuck has been published by several companies. Publications include: Music Pursuing the Horizon, An Improvisational Approach to Rock and Blues Guitar, Reflections for Guitar, The Modular Phonetic Rhythm System, Master Picking and The 6 Secrets of Guitar Fingering including Scale Charting. New books include: Mastering the Modes, The Private Music Teacher's Guide and High Tech Guitar, A new series called Unlocking the Guitar will feature topics such as learning the notes on the neck, strums, tunings etc. He also developed and was featured in a popular video series called Harmonic Tonalities, The Songwriter’s Master Classes.
As a composer/producer, Chuck has worked in the media music field, specializing in original music for all visual and audio media. Writing credits include work for Dupont, Sears, McDonalds, Merck, Westinghouse, GE, AT&T, PBS, KYW TV, the Fox Network, the WB Network, Blue Cross, US Health Care, Nascar, the NBA, the NHL, Air Products, Wyeth Pharmaceutical, Rite Aid, Wawa Food Markets, Penn State Football and Major League Baseball, among many others.
