The six essential scale are: Blues, Major Pentatonic, Mixolydian, Dorian, Aeolian, and Ionian.
There are two scales that can be the memorized and all other essential scales referenced from these two. These two scales are the Major and Natural Minor scales. The Major and Natural Minor scales are traditional scales and common scales in all forms of contemporary music. This lesson explores the Major and Natural Minor scales and their derivations.
From these two scales the Blues, Major Pentatonic, Mixolydiand and Dorian scale can be created.

Blue Bossa

Blue Bossa is an instrumental jazz composition by Kenny Dorham (August 30, 1924 – December 5, 1972). It was introduced on Joe Henderson's 1963 album Page One. A blend of hard bop and bossa nova, the tune was possibly influenced by Dorham's visit to the Rio de Janeiro Jazz Festival in 1961. The tune has since been recorded numerous times by different artists, making it a jazz standard.

Stairway to Heaven is a song by the English rock band Led Zeppelin, released in late 1971. It was composed by guitarist Jimmy Page and vocalist Robert Plant for the band's untitled fourth studio album (usually referred to as Led Zeppelin IV). The song, running eight minutes and two seconds, is composed of several sections, which increase in tempo and volume as the song progresses. The song begins as a slow acoustic-based folk song accompanied by panflutes, before electric instrumentation is introduced. The final section is a high-tempo hard rock section highlighted by an intricate guitar solo by Page.
The song, often considered one of the greatest rock songs of all-time, was voted #3 in 2000 by VH1 on its list of the 100 Greatest Rock Songs, and was placed at number 31 on Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. It was the most requested song on FM radio stations in the United States in the 1970s, despite never having been officially released as a single there. In November 2007, through download sales promoting Led Zeppelin's Mothership release, "Stairway to Heaven" hit #37 on the UK Singles Chart.

Basic Chords Used in Stairway to Heaven - - C Tuning
Stairway to Heaven is pretty musc your basic chords with a few 4-part, a.k.a "jazz" chords thrown in. Triads, three note chords are very effective for playing this song. You really need a low "G", C tuning to play this arrangement.

"C" Tuning - (g C E A and G C E A) - This is a common tuning for the standard sized soprano ukulele as well as the concert and tenor ukuleles. The basic chords and more can be found in my books A Guide to Ukulele Chords and Ukulele Chords.
Stairway to Heaven is more of a solo instrumental, than a song you can strum chords along to.
I use a lot of triads when playing this song. Some cool arrangements can be discovered just doodling around on the ukulele with triads.

I'd post links to ukulele versions of this song - but - they all really suck. Either they are just playing the guitar part, badly without the melody. To, changing the key and just playing what they can from the guitar.
In exploring this song on ukulele the melody can be covered in the original key, with a lot of Jimmy Page's guitar part. You can get a really nice version of the song and stay true to the song. No need to regurgitate the guitar part note for note.
